Las Vegas is my hometown. Growing up in Las Vegas since the age of six allowed me to watch this town grow first-hand and immerse myself in our community. I know our community’s needs, the areas where we excel and the areas where we can—and should—serve our citizens better.

The values I learned during my formative years in Las Vegas led me to serve our country in the United States Army as a combat medic. The Army taught me how to lead with integrity and serve with compassion, and this helped me recognize my life’s calling for public service. I also learned the value of teamwork—a team of individuals can accomplish amazing things when they work towards a common goal.

When I came home and started college at UNLV, I began living out my commitment to the community by applying the skills I learned in the Army to philanthropic work. I began mentoring two young men as a Big Brother in the Big Brothers & Big Sisters program. I raised money for scholarships so that young kids could attend afterschool programs at the Boys and Girls Club. And, I collected prom dresses for Aly’s Prom Closet so that underprivileged young women could have a dress to wear to their prom.

Although I was given the opportunity to attend numerous high-ranking law schools across the country, I chose to stay and study locally at the William S. Boyd School of Law in order to serve the community I love. I began my legal career as a union labor attorney working for the Urban Law Firm fighting to protect union jobs and trust fund contributions from unscrupulous contractors. Currently, my career is dedicated to helping others as a public defender. Every day I care for people affected by our broken criminal justice system. I work to find solutions to more than just the legal problem—I help connect people with the right resources to put them back on a productive path in life and reduce the chance that they will reoffend. I also help those who have served their time learn how to seal their records and start over with a clean slate because I firmly believe that every person is capable of being redeemed.

I’m running to be your Assemblyman in District 4 because I want to make a difference in the lives of Nevada’s children, the lives of their families, and have an even larger impact in the lives of the residents in my district. By working together, Nevada can continue to grow in the right direction and we can leave behind a safe and wonderful state for our children. Thank you for taking your time to learn about me. I look forward meeting you, hearing about your concerns, and working with you to improve our community.
